Since joining Duncan Aviation in 2024 as the Program Engineer assigned to Pratt & Whitney Engines, Alec Pusateri has played a key role in supporting the company's Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF). With a strong background in data analysis and a lifelong passion for aviation, he is an integral part of Duncan Aviation's operations that support Pratt &Whitney Canada engines. In this role, Pusateri ensures that engines consistently meet rigorous inspection parameters by performing meticulous data analysis and implementing necessary adjustments to optimize engine performance.

Pusateri graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2019 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and previously worked for Kawasaki's aerospace division, where he performed similar data and process analyses for Boeing's manufacturing operations.

"We are very excited to have Alec join our Engine Shop team," said Scott Stoki, Manager of Engine Services at Duncan Aviation. "He brings a high level of enthusiasm and drive, along with extensive engineering expertise and a passion for aviation. He will help propel our Pratt & Whitney Canada engine program into the future, ensuring innovative advancements and continued excellence in our operations."

Pusateri's contributions extend beyond data analysis; he has transformed all engine details into easily sortable programs, streamlining data access and digestion, as well as documenting the engine factory training processes, capturing invaluable tribal knowledge. He continuously researches required equipment to bring additional capabilities in-house, ensuring greater control over project timelines and quality standards.

He serves as a vital resource for the team, helping technicians connect the dots and providing strategic guidance on troubleshooting strategies. His hands-on approach includes learning alongside experienced engine technicians, gaining direct experience with the engines.

Pusateri's lifelong interest in aviation was sparked at age five after attending an Offutt Air Force Base Air Show in Bellevue, Nebraska. He remembers the roar of the jet engines and immediately knew he wanted to be a part of it. His passion for understanding how things work was solidified during his favorite college course, Thermal Dynamics, where he delved into the intricacies of a small jet engine.

Outside of work, Alec enjoys outdoor activities with his wife, Emma, including camping and frisbee golf, where he showcases his skill with 10-15 specialized discs. Interestingly, Frisbee discs are designed for a different purpose and share some fundamental aerodynamic principles with aircraft: speed, glide, fade, and turn.

New Duncan Aviation DOF

The new Duncan Aviation DOF, which will support Pratt & Whitney Canada engine operations, is currently under construction in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is scheduled to be fully operational in early 2026. This dedicated facility will focus on the overhaul and maintenance of both PW300 and PW500 series engines.
