Bangkok Helicopter Services, a division of Thailand's largest healthcare provider Bangkok Dusit Medical Services receives a brand new H145 helicopter from Airbus Helicopters, becoming the first in Asia Pacific to operate a H145 aircraft that is fully configured for emergency medical services (EMS).

"Airbus Helicopters' EC145 has served us well over the last nine years for various medical missions, and we are excited that the new EMS-configured H145 is introduced into our fleet this year, playing a pivotal role in our emergency medical transportation operations", said Kirati Kraiprasit, Managing Director of Bangkok Helicopter Services.

The EMS-configured H145 is well suited for hospital-to-hospital patient and intensive care transportation, benefitting from the easy and safe patient loading, through its wide side sliding doors and large rear clamshell doors. With an unobstructed, near 360-degree cabin visibility, the pilot can easily manoeuvre through tight spaces, to reach patients for emergency evacuation.

Specially designed in consultation with one of the world's leading EMS providers, the H145's spacious, unobstructed cabin meets the requirements set by national medical regulators. The cabin accommodates up to two stretchers with full suite of medical equipment, and up to three medical personnel and two pilots. Comfort for both patients and crew is ensured with the H145's turbine-smooth ride, while its low sound level is perfect for neighbourhood-friendly operations around hospitals and in urban environment. Around 650 helicopters in the H145 family (which includes the BK117, EC145 and H145 variants) are now flying EMS missions globally.

"The H145 is a truly agile and powerful workhorse. We are confident that Bangkok Helicopter Services will find the EMS-configured helicopter the perfect addition to its operations", said Philippe Monteux, Head of Region Southeast Asia and Pacific, Airbus Helicopters. "Being the first in Asia Pacific to operate this rotorcraft, we believe it will give our customer a head start as it expands its regional reach in the healthcare sector".

The H145 is the latest member of the 4-ton-class twin-engine helicopter family, which has a fleet of close to 1,200 in service globally, clocking over 4.6 million flight hours. While the aircraft is leading choice in the EMS and corporate transportation segments, its built-in versatility makes it the best candidate for a variety of missions. The light rotorcraft incorporates Airbus Helicopters' trademark Fenestron and innovative Helionix avionics suite for enhanced safety, increased performance and reduced pilot workload.
