Paris, Amstelveen April 27, 2022

AFI KLM E&M and Caribbean Airlines have announced the conclusion of a component support contract for the Trinidad and Tobago-based airline’s 737 MAX fleet, which currently numbers 9 aircraft. The solutions provided by AFI KLM E&M will cover repairs, access to a pool of spare parts, and a Main Base Kit (MBK) at the customer’s base in Port of Spain, as well as dedicated logistical support.

All the expertise of an Airline-MRO, coupled with that of the OAM

Caribbean Airlines has opted for one of the most recognized, attractive and high-performing service offerings on the market. AFI KLM E&M capitalizes on its expertise as an Airline-MRO, which is further enhanced by the technical knowledge and resources of the aircraft manufacturer, given that the solutions supplied to Caribbean Airlines fall within the 737 Component Services Program (CSP), operated jointly with Boeing. Designed solutions such as parts availability and the optimization of operator maintenance costs in mind, the program is a pledge of performance, safety and peace of mind for client airlines.

Varma Khillawan, VP Maintenance & Engineering at Caribbean Airlines, stresses “the importance of being able to rely on a maintenance partner that’s aware of and understands the reality of airline operations, in addition to demonstrating broad technical expertise. AFI KLM E&M has shown itself to be extremely attentive to our needs, displaying an eagerness to jointly develop a personalized support package rather than imposing standardized solutions.”

Local services with global reach

Supplying MRO services on an international scale, AFI KLM E&M structures its network around local facilities in key regions within the aviation maintenance market, thereby enabling it to deploy close-range support and localized services. Through Barfield, its benchmark Repair Facility on the American continent (whose headquarters is located in Miami), the Group is ideally situated to serve Caribbean Airlines – which operates out of both Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica – with efficiency and responsiveness.

Pierre Teboul, SVP Commercial at AFI KLM E&M, also states: “we’re honored by the confidence Caribbean Airlines has shown in us. This agreement is a further example of the strength and relevance of AFI KLM E&M’s service offering for Component support for 737 fleets (of any series), bolstered by our partnership with Boeing through the CSP program. For operators of these aircraft, this partnership represents a top-flight vector for quality, reliability and cost optimization.”
