GE Aviation names Mansfield Chief Digital Officer

GE Aviation today announced John Mansfield to the role chief digital officer. In this role, John will be responsible for the technology and business growth of the Aviation digital portfolio.

"John is a strong addition to our team," said David Joyce, president and CEO of GE Aviation. "He will continue our transformation of GE Aviation into a digital industrial aerospace leader with a focus on working with our customers on their greatest challenges."

John joins GE following a successful career at Hitachi Limited, where he most recently served as president, general manager and chief technology officer of the Product Platform Division.

Under John's leadership, GE Aviation's Digital Solutions business will focus on solidifying the product strategy, delivering technical solutions and ultimately growing orders and revenue. John's digital responsibilities will dual report to Bill Ruh, CEO, GE Digital & chief digital officer, GE and David Joyce. John will be based in Austin, TX. He joined GE on July 10.

John holds two bachelor's degrees in Engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Georgetown University. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and had six years as a naval aviator flying the A6 Intruder.

In addition to bringing an enhanced digital capability to the 35,000 engines that GE Aviation monitors every day, GE and its customers are working together to unlock new opportunities to grow and deliver more productivity beyond traditional services. GE is creating industry standards for cloud computing and strengthening collaboration with customers to work on solving their toughest challenges. These advancements in data and analytic technologies are examples of what GE's Predix platform for the Industrial Internet is driving in aviation.
